Join Mountain Credit Union as an Accounting Specialist Mountain Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting Department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the financial operations of the credit union while working in a collaborative and professional environment. As an Accounting Associate, you will help maintain accurate financial records, process accounting transactions, and support accounts payable and general ledger activities. Your work will contribute to the financial integrity of the credit union while helping ensure efficient operations across departments. What Does an Accounting Associate Do? The Accounting Associate supports the financial operations of the credit union through the maintenance of accounting records, financial transactions, and departmental reporting. This position performs accounting duties of moderate complexity in accordance with established procedures and under moderate supervision. This role serves as a key resource within the Accounting Department by processing accounting transactions, verifying financial information, managing invoice activity, and coordinating with internal departments and vendors. The Accounting Associate helps ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient day-to-day operations throughout the credit union. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Essential Functions & Responsibilities General Accounting and Transaction Processing Post routine accounting entries, adjustments, and transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Prepare and process journal entries from daily operations to the appropriate general ledger accounts. Verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information received. Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Accounts Payable and Invoice Administration Receive, review, and process invoices for accuracy and completeness. Create and maintain invoice records within the credit union's core system. Process invoices, corporate card charges, expense reimbursements, and other payment requests in accordance with established policies and procedures. Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding payment questions, missing approvals, and supporting documentation. Financial Record Maintenance and Reporting Support Assist with maintaining fixed asset records and related documentation. Support the tracking of prepaid expenses, accruals, amortization schedules, and depreciation records. Maintain organized accounting files and records for audit and reporting purposes. Assist with routine accounting reports and departmental requests. Communication and Problem Resolution Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve routine accounting issues and discrepancies. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner. Provide excellent service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Build positive working relationships with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders. Compliance and Department Support Maintain current knowledge of Mountain Credit Union policies, procedures, and accounting practices. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance. Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental objectives. Qualifications Required Education One of the following is required: A two-year college degree. Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school. Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program. Required Experience Two to five years of similar or related experience.
