Bookkeeper/Accounting Coordinator The Parenting PATH Winston-Salem, NC Job Details Full-time $25 - $30 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Life insurance Qualifications Accounting systems Teamwork Analysis skills Attention to detail QuickBooks Data entry Accounting and finance experience Full Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Bookkeeper / Accounting Coordinator to support the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial management, grant compliance, payroll support, and smooth day-to-day accounting operations that help strengthen families and prevent child abuse across northwest North Carolina. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required Nonprofit accounting experience preferred Proficiency in QuickBooks required Experience with Medicaid billing or reconciliations preferred Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously Demonstrated ability to work independently, efficiently, and creatively Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Positive attitude, flexibility, and good humor in a collaborative work environment Primary Responsibilities Perform all accounting procedures, including accounts payable and accounts receivable Create invoices; code and process all bills in accordance with agency budgets and Board approvals while ensuring proper expense allocation Prepare weekly cash disbursement checks for signatures Enter financial data into QuickBooks accounting system Prepare bank deposits, verified by the Office Manager Make journal entries for payroll and other accounting items as needed Allocate expenses according to the agency's cost allocation plan Conduct Medicaid reconciliations and assist with billing-related financial tracking Generate reports for grant reporting and grant reimbursement requests Assist with preparation of agency and program budgets Prepare monthly financial reports including Financial Status Reports (FSRs), Profit & Loss statements, and Balance Sheets for the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors Compile and maintain documentation required for the agency's annual audit and Single Audit compliance Ensure compliance with all requirements of state agencies, funders, and grantors, including grant-specific audits Prepare budget amendments as needed Support employee onboarding processes, including payroll setup, benefit enrollment coordination, and maintenance of employment-related financial records Record pay rate changes and track paid time off within the payroll system Maintain organized financial and personnel records Perform other duties as assigned Preferred Attributes Passion for nonprofit work and community impact Experience working in grant-funded environments Familiarity with state and federal funding requirements Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, staff, auditors, and funding agencies The Parenting PATH offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team working to strengthen families, support children, and build safer communities throughout our region.
