Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health by handling bookkeeping, account reconciliations, financial data analysis, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Responsibilities Perform general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including data entry, invoice processing, and payment management using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage. Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing activities in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Conduct detailed Excel data analysis and utilize spreadsheets for financial modeling, budgeting, and variance analysis. Handle payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos or Ceridian while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and confidentiality standards. Support internal controls by adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and assisting with internal audits. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial software integration such as Workday or PeopleSoft to streamline accounting processes. Skills Strong understanding of corporate and governmental accounting principles, including GAAP and non-profit accounting standards. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms. Experience with financial software like Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or equivalent payroll systems. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data using Excel data analysis techniques and spreadsheets. Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, account analysis, debits & credits, and account reconciliation. Strong numeracy skills combined with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly. Effective communication skills for customer service interactions and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.
