Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Office Technician to provide essential support to our team. DUTIES:
Balance receipts and funds received for deposit. Prepare release statements and calculate release checks for inmates releasing from facilities. Assess and monitor maintenance accounts for work release inmates. Post club and religious institutional checks, collect suspense checks, and process other transactions in the inmate banking software as assigned to include journal entries, manual pay, and funds due inmates. Data entry and filing of financial documents and records. Knowledge of principles and practices of clerical accounting/bookkeeping methods, forms and techniques. Understanding/learning mathematical functions, agency policies/guidelines, accounting terminology, and coding/classifications related to accounting processes. Assist with other accounting functions as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with spreadsheets, word processing and email. Experience performing data entry with extreme accuracy. Experience or classes in accounting functions.
