$22.00-$26.00 per hour, based on experience About the Role We are an established construction company with 38 years in business seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. This position plays an important role in our day-to-day operations and requires someone who is organized, accurate, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction industry, and be comfortable handling QuickBooks, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, commercial project billing, job costing, reconciliations, and general financial recordkeeping. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Enter vendor bills, code expenses, and prepare payments Maintain vendor records, W-9s, Certificates of Insurance, and other required documentation Prepare and process invoices for commercial construction projects Prepare progress billings, payment applications, and supporting billing documentation Track retainage, project deposits, progress payments, change orders, and final billings Prepare and maintain lien waivers and other construction billing documentation as required Track customer payments and outstanding receivables and follow up on past-due accounts Process payroll accurately and maintain required payroll records Maintain employee payroll information, deductions, PTO records, and related documentation Assist with certified payroll and prevailing-wage documentation when applicable Maintain accurate and organized financial records and general ledger entries Perform bank and credit card reconciliations Review and properly categorize bank and credit card transactions Assist with job costing, including tracking labor, materials, subcontractors, and other project expenses Maintain vendor and customer account records Reconcile vendor statements and research billing or payment discrepancies Maintain and reconcile company credit accounts Maintain 1099 and vendor information for year-end reporting Assist with sales tax records and filings, as applicable Assist with workers' compensation, payroll, and other audit documentation Prepare routine financial reports and supporting documentation for management Coordinate with the company's outside accountant/CPA and provide requested records for year-end accounting and tax preparation Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records Utilize QuickBooks for daily bookkeeping and accounting functions Assist with other bookkeeping and administrative accounting responsibilities as needed Qualifications Previous bookkeeping experience required Construction industry bookkeeping or accounting experience strongly preferred Proficiency in QuickBooks required Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Experience with payroll processing and recordkeeping Experience with commercial construction invoicing and job costing preferred Familiarity with progress billing, payment applications, retainage, lien waivers, and change-order billing is a plus Experience with certified payroll and prevailing-wage documentation is a plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with management and project staff Dependable, professional, and comfortable handling confidential financial information Compensation $22.00-$26.00 per hour , commensurate with experience and qualifications. Part-time position averaging 24-32 hours per week , with scheduling flexibility Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
