Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to support the daily financial operations of our organization. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, reconciling accounts, preparing routine reports, and providing administrative and customer service support. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process and reconcile invoices, payments, receipts, deposits, purchase orders, and other financial transactions. Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, spreadsheets, and filing systems. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and prepare necessary journal entries or adjustments. Review and verify financial information, expenditures, account balances, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance. Prepare routine financial reports, statements, and spreadsheets. Respond professionally to inquiries from employees, departments, vendors, and the public. Enter, update, and retrieve information using computerized financial systems and Microsoft Office applications. Perform general clerical and administrative support functions for the accounting department. Prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines. Support departmental goals by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to accounting procedures and policies. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or financial clerical experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting and financial software systems preferred. Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping practices. Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Work Environment This position typically operates in an office environment and requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and handling of financial documentation.
