Fri Sep 18 2026 The Massry School of Business at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position. The position will commence Fall 2027. This position will be within the Department of Accounting & Law, which is responsible for undergraduate and graduate level education in our AACSB-accredited accounting programs. The department has a long history of high-impact scholarship and innovative educational programming. Our faculty are well-regarded scholars across a diverse set of research areas, including capital markets, auditing, text analytics, and accounting pedagogy. We seek scholars with active and productive research agendas who display potential to publish in leading accounting journals. The position is targeted toward candidates with research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: accounting information systems, financial accounting, corporate governance, and forensic accounting. Candidates should be willing to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Key responsibilities of this position include: Conducting innovative research and publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals Providing rigorous instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses Presenting scholarly research at academic conferences and meetings Contributing service to the department, the Massry School of Business, the university, the local community, and the accounting profession All candidates must be sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working in an academic community that is diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or identity, disability status, and protected veteran status. Auditing:

A Journal of Practice & Theory; Accounting, Organizations and Society; and Issues in Accounting Education. Accounting researchers have access to Compustat and CRSP through WRDS. The department supports faculty research by purchasing other datasets as needed, and funding travel to conferences. The Massry School houses cutting-edge research centers including the Center for Institutional Investment Management (CIIM), the Center for Advancement & Understanding of Social Enterprises (CAUSE), and FACETS, a hub for analytics and systems security research funded by agencies such as NSF, IARPA, and NIST. These centers can provide faculty with valuable infrastructure and access to industry and government partnerships. Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD) in accounting or a closely-related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 08/21/2027. Applicants must demonstrate the potential for conducting high-quality research in the field of accounting, measured by publications, working papers, conference and workshop presentations, and/or their Ph.D. dissertation, requisite for an appointment as Assistant Professor in the field of accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have a record of research in accounting, auditing, or closely-related fields demonstrated by publications. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching classes in financial accounting, accounting information systems, corporate governance, and/or forensic accounting. Preferred candidates will have earned a Ph.D. and/or worked at schools with AACSB supplemental accounting accreditation.
