Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. Your expertise in various accounting software and financial concepts will help streamline processes, facilitate accurate reporting, and uphold the integrity of our financial data. Responsibilities Maintain and update the general ledger using our commercial property management software AppFolio, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies promptly. Prepare and process journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions with precision. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy across all financial statements. Assist with budgeting processes and provide detailed account analysis to support financial decision-making. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant regulations, including governmental accounting standards when applicable. Support tax preparation activities by maintaining organized records of financial transactions and assisting with tax experience requirements. Write clear financial reports and summaries for internal review, highlighting key insights from financial data. Collaborate on account reconciliation efforts, double entry bookkeeping practices, and general ledger reconciliation tasks to uphold data integrity. Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within public or non-profit sectors. Strong proficiency with accounting software such as Appfolio or Yardi is preferred. Solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account analysis, and bank reconciliation processes. Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting accurately. Experience with payroll processing and tax-related activities is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred. Ability to interpret financial data clearly and write comprehensive financial reports. Familiarity with technical accounting practices such as account reconciliation, account analysis, budgeting, and double entry bookkeeping.
