We are looking for a reliable and organized Bookkeeping & Administrative Assistant to help with our day-to-day financial and administrative operations. Proficiency with AppFolio is required. Applicants must be familiar and comfortable working within AppFolio. This position involves working with property financials, expenses, payments, and records on a regular basis. Job Description This is an in-person, part-time independent contractor position based out of our Locust Valley office. The position generally requires 5-10 hours per week , at $20-$25 per hour , depending on experience and AppFolio proficiency. The role will focus on bookkeeping, administrative work, keeping records organized, communicating with clients and vendors, and assisting with property management and home-watch operations. Responsibilities Enter and categorize expenses, invoices, payments, and other transactions in AppFolio Maintain organized and accurate property financial records Assist with reconciliations and reviewing account activity Follow up by phone on outstanding balances and unpaid invoices Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and scheduling Communicate professionally with clients, property owners, tenants, and vendors Organize receipts, invoices, payments, and other documentation Identify missing information or discrepancies and follow up as needed Handle general administrative and office tasks Make occasional local trips to banks, the post office, or other nearby locations Experience Strong familiarity and proficiency with AppFolio is required Previous bookkeeping, accounting, property management, or administrative experience preferred Comfortable working with financial information and maintaining accurate records Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Comfortable making phone calls and communicating with clients and vendors Able to work independently and follow through on tasks Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local errands Comfortable working as an independent contractor
