Accounts Payable Clerk - Finance Department- Full Time Join the Rescue Mission Team!
Rate of Pay:

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial information, values accuracy, and can effectively balance independent responsibilities with collaboration in a fast-paced team environment. Position Summary The Accounts Payable Clerk supports the Rescue Mission's day-to-day accounting operations by coordinating accounts payable activities and helping ensure vendor invoices are entered accurately and paid in a timely manner. This position also assists with vendor inquiries, purchase order follow-up, financial recordkeeping, grant documentation, annual filings, journal entries, and other department responsibilities What You'll Do Accounts Payable and Vendor Support Coordinate the timely and accurate entry of vendor invoices into the general ledger system. Prepare vendor statement reconciliations as needed. Respond to inquiries from staff, clients, and vendors in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. Assist with follow-up on open purchase orders. Organize and maintain accounts payable records. Accounting and Financial Support Scan, print, organize, and file financial documentation to support monthly grant vouchering. Assist with annual filings, including 1099 preparation. Record monthly and year-end journal entries to support the month-end and year-end closing processes. Provide cross-coverage for other Accounting positions as needed. Support the Rescue Mission's financial guidelines and internal controls. Perform other accounting-related responsibilities as assigned. Receiving and Purchase Order Support Receive, review, and record incoming shipments. Verify that received items and quantities match the corresponding purchase orders. Assist Procurement and Accounts Payable with resolving or following up on open purchase orders. Team and Organizational Support Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance. Complete assigned work accurately, productively, and with a focus on quality. Stay current with assigned training and organizational policy changes. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support the Rescue Mission's mission and values. Qualifications Education and Experience Associate degree preferred, or a minimum of three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Previous accounting experience and a general working knowledge of accounts payable. Practical experience using Microsoft Office applications. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, client-focused setting. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach situations thoughtfully and methodically. Ability to provide professional and responsive customer service to staff, clients, and vendors.
