Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Contract position based in Cincinnati, OH. This role will handle a mix of payables, receivables, reconciliations, and general ledger support while helping maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working across multiple accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review supplier invoices, assign proper coding, and coordinate timely payment processing through the accounting system.
- Record and update accounts payable transactions, ensuring invoice and disbursement details remain complete and accurate.
- Compare vendor statements against internal records, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding issues.
- Generate customer billing, maintain receivable records, and ensure invoice information is entered correctly.
- Post incoming payments, apply cash receipts to the appropriate accounts, and keep customer balances current.
- Track overdue balances, communicate regarding outstanding invoices, and support collection follow-up efforts.
- Complete bank and account reconciliations to verify financial accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly.
- Support general ledger maintenance by preparing journal entries and assisting with month-end closing activities.
- Organize accounting documentation and prepare recurring financial reports or schedules for leadership review.
- Provide day-to-day accounting and administrative assistance to the Controller or Accounting Manager as needed. Requirements
- Experience in bookkeeping with hands-on responsibility for both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Working knowledge of bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger support.
- Ability to identify, research, and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies with accuracy.
- Proficiency using accounting software, including experience with Macola.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized financial records.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
