Full-Time Position Summary:
The Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk performs the day-to-day processing, recording, and reconciliation of the City's accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions under the direction of the City Auditor. This position ensures the timely and accurate collection of revenues, disbursement of funds, and maintenance of financial records in compliance with applicable state law, City policy, and generally accepted accounting principles.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process incoming payments, receipts, and deposits; post transactions accurately to the appropriate funds and accounts.
- Prepare, review, and process vendor invoices and payment requests; verify accuracy, supporting documentation, and proper authorization prior to disbursement.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable subledgers to the general ledger on a regular basis; identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation in accordance with the City's records retention schedule.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for the City Auditor, external auditors, and other agencies as requested.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables; follow up on delinquent accounts and pending payments as directed.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, City departments, and the public regarding billing, payments, and account status.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciliations and reporting deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information encountered in the course of duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the City Auditor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Spotless record on ethics, trust and money handling.
- Bondable through a Municipal Bond in the amount of $100,000. The City will pay for the bond.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in bookkeeping, accounts receivable/payable, or general accounting support, preferably in a public sector or municipal setting.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and accounting software; experience with municipal fund accounting systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive financial information.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet recurring deadlines.

Starting Pay:

Schedule:
- 10-hour shift, or 8-hour shift if preferred
