This pivotal role involves managing payroll processing, maintaining payroll systems, and ensuring adherence to employment and labor laws. As a leader within the payroll team, you will coordinate with HR, finance, and other departments to deliver timely and precise payroll services that support our organizational goals. Your expertise will help streamline payroll workflows, optimize system integrations, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and data security. This position reports to the Director of Finance assisting in various departmental responsibilities listed below, with the primary focus leading the payroll-related functions for the Village in a confidential and professional manner. Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end payroll process using Tyler Technology payroll system, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments. Oversee payroll data entry, reconciliation, and journal entries to maintain precise financial records. Ensure compliance with employment laws, tax regulations, and labor law requirements across all payroll activities. Manage payroll tax calculations, filings, and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations in addition to collective bargaining agreements. Coordinate with HRIS systems to update employee information related to compensation changes, benefits enrollment, and time & attendance records. Conduct regular audits of payroll data for accuracy; perform account reconciliations and analysis to identify discrepancies or errors. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information while handling large volumes of data entry and processing tasks. Manage accounts payable activities such as processing payments to vendors. Participate in business process improvement projects. Train, communicate, and resolve issues with Village staff, Elected Officials, and all others as needed. Assist with special projects, filing, and administrative tasks for the department. Backup Finance Director as needed. Perform other related duties as required. Skills Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related discipline, plus direct payroll experience is required (preferably in local government). Experience in administering collective bargaining agreements. Adaptable with the ability to work independently handling multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Attention to detail, excellent customer service, and problem-solving abilities. Regular, predictable attendance, especially during deadlines and busy season at year-end. Ability to express or exchange ideas and instruction clearly.

Hours :
40 hours per week; Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (is flexible); evenings and weekends as needed.
Salary Range :
