Job Description
Overview Join our growing team as a Bookkeeper specializing in real estate property management! The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of bookkeeping experience, but CPA designation is not required. The candidate will be responsible for daily revenue and expense input into the rental payment platform used by the company. The candidate should be organized, communicative, and detail-oriented. If you're passionate about accounting and/or real estate, this position is perfect for you! We are seeking an eager and proactive professional who values accuracy in a small and expanding company. This will be a full-time position (40 hours a week, year-round). The position will pay $50,000-$56,000 per year with paid time off (pay scale based on experience, degrees, and/or designations, if any). Responsibilities Reconcile tenant ledgers and/or balance sheets and perform account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data Collect checks from the office dropbox and both scan into the property bank account and record on our rental payment platform. Please expect the need to do a monthly physical deposit at a few local bank branches. Receive invoices and bills sent from local municipalities for water, sewer, trash, and property taxes. Both pay online or by check and record expenses in the accounting platform. Analyze expenses as they come in against same time last year to ensure there are not unexpected property issues such as water leaks, tax reassessment, tenant malfeasance, etc. Receive and refund (by mail) security deposits to tenants across the Lehigh Valley portfolio. Daily communication with the in-house property manager to ensure accurate accounting and record-keeping of tenant payments and plans. Maintain accurate records of financial transactions through daily data entry and spreadsheet management. Monthly review with the property manager and head of the business. Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other summaries for semi-annual review with our CPA. Ideally proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Qualifications Proven experience as a bookkeeper, ideally in a similar accounting role within real estate or property management companies Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, or comparable systems. Proficiency in Buildium, Appfolio, or Yardi is a plus. Extensive knowledge and understanding of assets, liabilities, and equity. Experience analyzing Cash Flow Statements, Income Statements, and Balance Sheets. Familiarity with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and general ledger reconciliation Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
