Job Summary Montour County is seeking an Assistant Chief Clerk to work in the Office of Commissioners. The successful candidate will be conversant with bookkeeping and accounting practices. The position is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing and overseeing budgets, preparing and issuing vendor payments, assisting the payroll process, and providing support for grant programs. Duties Maintains financial records on the County general ledger systems; prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports and reports for state/federal agencies when required Prepares annual budget in coordination with the Chief Clerk and keeps Commissioners/Chief Clerk apprised of ongoing expenditures and receipts Reviews, prepares and issues vendor payments. Serves as risk manager for the Pennsylvania Workers Comp Trust; processes workers compensation reports Serves as Chair of the County Safety Committee, overseeing six Safety Committee meetings each year Applies for and manages safety improvement grants though PComp and PCorp insurance programs Prepares annual Liquid Fuels budget and related reports Assists with election preparation and tasks Responsible for Retirement Fund payroll processing; reconciles Retirement Fund checking account Assists with employee payroll functions as needed Performs duties of Chief Clerk in the absence of Chief Clerk Assists Emergency Management Agency during emergencies Performs other duties as directed by
