Organization Summary:
SPARK Senior Centers of Montgomery County is a non-profit organization that operates two Senior Activity Centers in Harleysville and Lansdale. SPARK Senior Centers are designed to meet the integral needs of aging adults across Montgomery County by providing access to a full range of Services, Programs, Activities, Resources, and Knowledge building opportunities for Seniors in our area, helpingseniors to live vibrant, purposeful, and independent lives at any age.
Position Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate, current, and organized financial records to support SPARK Senior Centers' mission and fiduciary oversight, reporting to the Executive Director. This role manages accounting operations—including accounts payable and receivable, monthly reconciliations, payroll processing, and grant fund tracking—while providing leadership with reliable financial reports.
Responsibilities:
Record incoming revenue, including individual donations, recurring pledges, event income, and grant disbursements. Process vendor invoices and accounts payable, including timely disbursements of payments and recording in QuickBooks. Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly bank account and debit card reconciliations. Code and prepare bank deposits in collaboration with staff at each SPARK location. Process bi-weekly payroll and ensure accurate classification of staff time. Prepare monthly financial reports for Montgomery County Office of Aging Services. Maintain filing system for all financial documents, contracts, and receipts in accordance with organization's document retention policies and non-profit best practices. Prepare monthly financial packages, including Balance Sheets, Statements of Activities (P&L), and cash flow projections for the Board of Directors. Assist with the annual audit and 990 tax filing, serving as key point of contact with auditors. Ensure compliance with GAAP standards for non-profit organizations. Maintain confidentiality of donors, grantors, employees, customers, vendors, board members, and clients. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience, with at least 1 year strictly in a non-profit (fund accounting) environment. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered). Must pass the required background checks: o PA Criminal Check o PA Child Abuse Clearance o FBI Criminal Check if you have lived outside of PA in the past 2 years Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (Advanced/Non-Profit), Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Suite programs. Familiarity with SharePoint a plus.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position with flexible hours (15-20 hrs/week) based on candidate's experience and operational workflow. Ideally, the candidate will work on-site at SPARK Senior Center of Lansdale; however, remote/hybrid options are open for consideration.
Pay:
$23.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 20.0 per week
