Job Title:
Accounting Specialist Job Description We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role will involve managing and processing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting our growing organization with expanding national operations. Responsibilities Receive, review, process, verify, and reconcile vendor invoices for payment. Initiate and monitor vendor payments to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payment terms. Track and manage monthly recurring payables. Process customer billing and accounts receivable transactions. Deposit and record incoming payments from customers and vendors. Prepare and complete monthly bank, cash, and credit card reconciliations. Support daily treasury operations, including ACH batch submissions and daily bank reconciliations. Process employee expense reports and audit for adherence to company policy. Assist with month-end close activities, including balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations. File sales tax returns in multiple states. Maintain organized electronic accounting records and documentation. Administer purchase order requests and support procurement documentation. Handle manual transactions, including gift card processing and monthly reconciliations. Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting processes. Assist management with special projects, audits, and process improvements as needed. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of related accounting or finance experience. Associate's degree in Accounting or related coursework (Bachelor's degree a plus). Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Working knowledge of bank and account reconciliations. Basic to intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a detail-driven environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with QuickBooks Online. Experience with Salesforce.com. Exposure to sales tax filings and multi-state compliance. Familiarity with treasury processes and cash management. Experience supporting month-end close processes. Work Environment This is an in-office role based in Lisle, IL, with a flexible start and end time. The position offers a small accounting environment with a family feel, where you will work closely with a collaborative team and have direct exposure to leadership. Please note that this role does not offer remote work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lisle, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
