  • Full-time Overview We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Accounting Specialist to manage full-cycle accounting operations for an established senior living facility.
This is a hands-on role responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and account reconciliations, while supporting management with accurate and timely financial information. This position is based in Dothan, Alabama and operates in a hybrid capacity. Core accounting functions will be performed remotely, while routine on-site presence at the facility is required to support administrative operations, collaborate with staff, and maintain alignment with day-to-day business activity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable handling a mix of transactional responsibilities and basic accounting functions. This role requires consistency, accuracy, and the ability to stay organized across multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties Manage accounts payable:
enter bills, process payments, and maintain vendor records Oversee accounts receivable and collections, including invoice generation and follow-ups Record customer payments and prepare bank deposits Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records Assist with month-end close, including reviewing transactions for accuracy and completeness Process semi-monthly payroll, including garnishments and deductions Manage benefits administration, 401(k) reporting, and related payments Ensure compliance with payroll tax filings and reporting requirements Coordinate with vendors on services, orders, and billing questions Assist with tax payments and reporting requirements Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical) Conduct periodic on-site visits (not overnight) to the facility Collaborate with management on special projects and process improvements Skills 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or full-cycle accounting roles Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite Strong understanding of AP, AR, payroll, and account reconciliations Strong attention to detail with the ability to self-review work for accuracy Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Experience working in a small business environment or managing multiple accounting functions is strongly preferred
