Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to payment processes and procedures. Analyzes financial records, including variance analysis. What a day of an Accounts Payable Specialist looks like: Creates, submits, and settles Automated Clearing House (ACH), direct deposit, and check payments. Initiates and processes payments using various payment methods including ad-hoc payments, expense payments, third-party payments, and card payments. Processes unclaimed property payments. Collaborates with departments to determine the status of outstanding checks, sends notification letters, and cancels and reissues payments as needed. Creates, submits, and processes bank inquiries. Reviews and processes electronic wire transfers. Processes stop-payment requests for checks. Prepares, maintains, and reviews various financial reports based on internal and external requests and business needs. Maintains the electronic filing system. Saves and retrieves records and files, and scans documents into the system for audit purposes. Acts as liaison among departments, functions, or groups, within and outside the College and communicates information through various methods to appropriate personnel and others. Provides guidance within area of expertise. Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions. Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional events outside of college locations, as needed. Assists in the testing of new or changed end-user products in an integrated systems environment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree and two years of related experience; OR High school diploma or GED and four years of related experienceKnowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application Check printing and payment processing Skilled in: Resolving conflicts between individual needs and requirements of the organization Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management Performing with a high degree of accuracy Ability to: Research information for problem solving Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service Process complex problems encountered using knowledge acquired through training and experience Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the publicLicenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
