Job Description
Position Summary The Insurance/AR Clerk will file insurance claims and assists the receptionists within the centers to accurately report charges. The Insurance/AR Clerk is available for patient questions regarding the billing process. Position Tasks The following tasks are performed by the Insurance/AR Clerk but may not include all the duties assigned: Process all insurance, disability, and workmen's compensation claims. Follow-up insurance. Talk with patients regarding problems with insurance or statements. Fill in as needed in centers Prepare various program management reports as necessary. Talk with centers regarding coding questions. Performs other duties as assigned. Performance Requirements Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of insurance industry. Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine and other office equipment. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and patients. Qualifications High school diploma required. Word processing and computer experience and six months experience coding using ICD-10 and CPT preferable.
