Blackbird Hospitality (owners of Wonderbar / The Beacon movie theater, Cooper's, The Bird & Bottle Inn, Hudson Valley Marshmallow Company, Nonnina's) is seeking an Accounting Manager/Full Charge Bookkeeper to support our Director of Operations & Owners. The position requires an individual with strong work ethic, computer skills and high attention to detail. Candidates must also have good communication skills, as they will report directly to ownership. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of financial concepts. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall success of the organization. Duties Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software . Perform double entry bookkeeping, including journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliation. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial statements. Prepare financial reports and assist in budget preparation while adhering to GAAP standards. Execute bank reconciliations and payroll processing accurately and efficiently. Analyze accounts for discrepancies and resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner. Support tax preparation efforts with relevant documentation and reporting as needed. Collaborate with team members on financial concepts, technical accounting issues, and budgeting processes. Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in corporate, non-profit, or public accounting settings. Proficiency in accounting software paritcularly QuickBooks. Strong understanding of financial concepts including GAAP principles, account analysis, and budgeting techniques. Experience with balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and payroll processing is required. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player. Familiarity with governmental accounting practices is a plus. Strong typing skills (10 key typing) for efficient data entry tasks.
