Animal Care Specialist Part-time:

28hours per week minimum/potential for additional hours

$16.00 hourly Mid Hudson Animal Aid is a free-range, no-kill cat shelter in Beacon, NY, seeking an experienced and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team four days a week. This is a hands-on position for someone with experience working with cats in a shelter, veterinary setting, rescue, or similar animal-care environment. This position requires patience, compassion, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to manage the day-to-day challenges of shelter work.

Responsibilities:

Administer medications safely. Handle cats of various temperaments safely and humanely for medical care. Adhere to medical, cleaning, and feeding protocols. Keep accurate records and report medical concerns/information on cats promptly to management. Interact with potential adopters and provide tours of the shelter. Complete all tasks in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

Prior experience with animals, preferably cats. Strong attention to detail. Willingness to learn. Ability to interact positively with the public. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and under pressure. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to transport cats to the vet in potential emergency situations.
