Job Description

Finance Associate Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School Brooklyn, New York What is the Role? The Finance Team at Coney Island Prep (CIP) is the backbone of financial systems and budget lines that supports our entire community from scholars and their families to teachers and operational school leaders. The Finance Associate will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer and two Directors of Finance to support revenue and expense reconciliations, prepare financial and budget reports, and assist accounts payable. This role is part of CIP's network office and they will work closely with operations teams at each of our four campuses. This position is based in our network office in Coney Island, Brooklyn, with the flexibility to work from home two days a week after onboarding is complete. The Finance Associate will be hired and managed by the Director of Finance, Compliance & Reporting. What You'll Be Asked To Do Operate with Effectiveness by demonstrating ownership through effective planning that accounts for all stakeholders and outcomes. Thoroughly review data and spreadsheets with a keen eye for details and spotting any errors Support budgeting and forecasting by consolidating data and gathering inputs from campuses Participate in per pupil allocation forecasting by tracking bank deposits and updating the dashboard Assist with payroll processing and maintain payroll data with fidelity and accuracy Process accounts payable on a daily basis and track invoices Prepare supporting documentation and maintain records for audits and compliance Generate routine financial reports and keep dashboards up-to-date; maintain detailed and organized electronic storage of financial documentation Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and update relevant SOPs Collaborate and co-lead with two Directors of Finance, the Chief Financial Officer, and campus operations teams on all aspects of the day-to-day budgetary management of our schools and network office. Support the accounts payable function including: processing invoices through Concur, reconciling credit card accounts to Quickbooks, and preparing vendor payments by check and ACH Work with the Finance Team to produce and analyze monthly and quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees, SUNY authorizer, NY State Education Department, and internal stakeholders; prepare quarterly budget review materials for campuses and network office Execute strategic projects and initiatives under Director of Finance's guidance Provide day-to-day support for operational requests and tracking, including working from campus Main Offices on occasion What You'll Need Passion for education and a dedication to Coney Island Prep's mission, beliefs, and values and its commitment to anti-racism Steadfast belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels and deserve an opportunity to succeed in the college and career of their choice An ownership mindset focused on spotting inconsistencies, mistakes and fraud in spreadsheets Proven organizational, oral, and written communication skills; timeliness; accuracy; and consistent and regular communication; and ability to meet due dates Comfort with autonomous, repetitious, and predictable work; initiative to engage in the next priority upon completion of tasks and/or projects; an eagle eye for continuous improvement of systems and processes Interpersonal skills to foster trust-based relationships and clear accountability across teams and with school leaders and their staff; eagerness to work collaboratively as part of a team Curious, self-reflective and open to both providing and receiving feedback; able to demonstrate significant growth stemming from feedback Eagerness to work collaboratively as part of a team Commitment to travel to all of our four campuses Bachelor's degree required; a background in finance or accounting a plus Working knowledge of Google Sheets and Excel required; experience with Concur and Quickbooks a plus Who are we? Benefits and Compensation Employees at Coney Island Prep are provided with salaries that are set through a lens of equity and based on an individual's skills and experiences relevant to the role. The salary range for this position is $60,000
  • 62,500.
