360 Detroit is seeking an experienced Financial Bookkeeper to manage the organization's financial records and support fiscal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience, advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial data that is compliant with nonprofit accounting standards. This contract position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership and external partners. Key Responsibilities
- Weekly maintenance of financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries and supporting financial files.
- Process and reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and cash transactions.
- Record and classify all financial transactions in QuickBooks and associated files.
- Prepare financial reports and support budget tracking activities, including grant-related revenue and expenses.
- Monitor expenses and ensure proper allocation and tracking of funds across programs and grants.
- Prepare financial documentation for audits, tax filings, and board reporting.
- Utilize Excel to create financial reports, perform data analysis, and maintain financial spreadsheets.
- Maintain donation logs and other required files.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulations. Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Staff Accountant, or similar financial role.
- Nonprofit accounting and financial management experience required.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, financial reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience supporting nonprofit audits, grant reporting and nonprofit fund accounting.
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 10.0 per week
