We are Green Coffee Importers who supply unroasted coffee to top specialty roasters throughout the United States and the world. We buy coffee from farmers, cooperatives, millers, and exporters in nearly 30 countries of origin to supply our global network of customers. We are a founding member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, and a large percentage of our annual volume is made up by certified Organic and Fair-Trade coffees. We are looking to hire a Human Resources & Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is a hybrid position in our Emeryville office, responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company's human resources, payroll, and benefits functions and provides support to the accounting team. This position also serves as a resource for employees regarding HR processes, benefits, payroll, and company policies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage employee onboarding, offboarding, personnel changes, and confidential employee records and documentation. Serve as a resource to employees and management regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, and procedures. Administer leave programs, workers' compensation claims, and related documentation. Manage employee benefits, including plan evaluations, renewals, annual enrollment, communications, and recommendations to management. Manage the company's 401(k) plan and coordinate ACA requirements, including enrollment, compliance, reporting, and required filings. Maintain and update the employee handbook, offer letters, arbitration agreement, policies, forms, postings, and required notices. Support employee relations and maintain compliance with applicable federal and California employment requirements while handling sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. Process accurate and prompt semi-monthly payroll, including timekeeping, new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, bonuses, benefits, and other adjustments. Support general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution. Assist with month-end and year-end close, audits, and required federal, state, and local filings.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in human resources, payroll, benefits, accounting administration, or a related role. Strong working knowledge of California employment practices, ACA compliance, payroll requirements, benefits administration, and related compliance requirements, along with an understanding of basic accounting principles. Experience with 401(k) administration, benefits administration, and payroll processes preferred. Strong attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Royal Coffee, Inc is an equal opportunity employer.
