Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our small team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your accounting expertise in a flexible, supportive environment. You will manage essential bookkeeping tasks, ensure accurate record-keeping, and support our financial reporting processes for our bi-weekly Livestock newspaper. Your energetic approach and commitment to precision will help keep our financial systems running smoothly and efficiently. Being a self starter is key. Responsibilities Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using accounting software such as Sage. Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to ensure consistency across all financial statements Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable with attention to detail Prepare journal entries, ledger postings, and double-entry bookkeeping entries following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards Reconcile the general ledger and perform balance sheet reconciliations regularly Support the preparation of financial statements, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets Process mail and accounts receivable payments several times/week. Process accounts receivable invoices every other week Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance roles with familiarity in public accounting. Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms Knowledge of accounting standards, GAAP principles, and financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation Excellent skills in spreadsheets and database software such as Claris FileMaker Pro, for our circulation and other mailing lists. Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation accurately Experience with accounts payable/receivable management. Demonstrated understanding of double-entry bookkeeping systems and financial software integration Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multitask efficiently in a part-time capacity. $700.00 - $769.00 per week
