Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Support Specialist to support our revenue cycle team at our physician-owned gastroenterology practice and Endoscopy Center in Evanston, IL. This role is supports the revenue cycle by submitting professional claims, posting payments, performing accounts receivable follow-up, resolving claim denials, and maximizing reimbursement. The ideal candidate has experience with physician billing, insurance claims management, and payer guidelines, is proficient with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems, and demonstrates exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills while contributing to the financial success of the practice. Responsibilities Assist with submitting professional claims for multiple physician providers Support accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up to reduce aging and maximize collections Assists in resolving claim rejections, denials, and underpayments Prepare and corrected claims and insurance appeals Post insurance and patient payments accurately Respond to patient billing inquiries Verify insurance eligibility when needed Generate reports using Microsoft Excel Work closely with the billing team, physicians, and management to support an efficient revenue cycle Qualifications Required Minimum of 1-2 years of physician billing and accounts receivable follow-up experience Basic understanding of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and insurance billing Experience with payment posting or accounts receivable preferred Comfortable using EMR and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Excellent communication skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with the billing team Preferred Gastroenterology or ambulatory surgery center billing experience Familiarity with clearinghouse systems and Experience with Modernizing Medicine (ModMed) or similar electronic medical record (EMR) software Schedule Part-time (approximately 25-30 hours per week) Flexible weekday schedule On-site in Evanston, IL (hybrid schedule may be considered after successful training for an experienced candidate) Why Join ECNS?
