Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with labor and tax laws, and maintaining accurate financial records. Your expertise in payroll systems, accounting software, and HRIS platforms will be essential to streamline operations, uphold confidentiality, and support the organization's financial health. Responsibilities Process payroll accurately and timely using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws. Manage payroll tax filings, benefit deductions, and wage calculations while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Reconcile payroll data with accounting records through account reconciliation, general ledger entries, and journal postings. Utilize accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management. Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, employee benefits administration, and time & attendance systems like Kronos or Ceridian. Ensure compliance with governmental regulations related to payroll tax law and labor law by staying current on legislative changes. Support non-profit accounting functions including grant tracking, reporting, and financial analysis as needed. Collaborate with human resources teams to handle employee data entry, HRIS updates, and benefits administration. Perform month-end closing activities involving account reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation. Assist in audits by providing accurate documentation of payroll processing and accounting transactions. Experience Proven experience in payroll management and accounting within a corporate or non-profit environment. Strong knowledge of payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos or Ceridian. Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, PeopleSoft or similar platforms. Solid understanding of employment & labor law, tax law, and governmental regulations affecting payroll processing. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) for data analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Experience with technical accounting principles such as debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation and double entry bookkeeping. Excellent analysis skills combined with attention to detail in financial concepts like payroll tax calculations and benefits administration. Ability to perform data entry efficiently using 10 key typing skills while managing multiple priorities effectively. $22.16 - $31.50 per hour
