Full Charge Bookkeeper -
Multi-Entity Nonprofit Location:
Manchester, NH (in-person with hybrid/remote flexibility)
Schedule:
Part-Time, 25 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:30am-1:30pm
Pay Range:
$30-$35/hour, paid biweekly About Us On the Road to Wellness is a non-clinical, member-driven nonprofit providing free peer support services to adults navigating mental health recovery and wellness. With over 35 years of service and locations in Manchester and Derry, NH, we operate with an open-door philosophy—no insurance or identification required. As a growing organization managing multiple programs—including our Peer Support Agencies and Step-Up Step-Down residential program—we are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Senior Bookkeeper (Full-Charge) to support our financial operations. Position Overview This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the full bookkeeping cycle, and supporting multi-entity accounting across programs. The ideal candidate brings strong QuickBooks experience, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to keep financial systems organized, compliant, and audit-ready in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process and categorize invoices, manage vendor payments, and ensure accurate invoicing to the State and other funding sources
Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation:
Perform monthly reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.) for leadership
Payroll Processing:
Process payroll through a third-party provider, review timesheets, and ensure accurate tax calculations and reporting
Transaction Management:
Record and classify all financial transactions in QuickBooks, ensuring proper categorization for compliance and reporting
Multi-Entity Accounting:
Maintain accurate records across multiple programs (PSA and SUSD), including class or fund tracking
Compliance & Tax Support:
Support adherence to local, state, and federal requirements; assist with any applicable tax filings
Audit & Year-End Support:
Assist with financial audits and provide documentation to external auditors
Financial Organization:
Maintain clean, organized financial records and documentation systems
Administrative Support:
Assist with additional financial or administrative tasks as needed Qualifications 3+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience Proficiency in QuickBooks (required) Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Experience with multi-entity, class, or fund accounting preferred Experience in nonprofit or grant-funded environments strongly preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial tracking and reporting Familiarity with payroll processing and tax requirements Associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial staff Benefits & Work Environment 12 paid holidays Paid day off for employee's birthday Flexible scheduling within a part-time structure Hybrid work environment (in-person with remote flexibility)
