The finance assistant is responsible for providing financial and operational support by performing a variety of clerical and fiscal duties involving financial record-keeping and/or completing transactions relating to department functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing. This is an on-site position requiring in-person attendance at Westerly Education Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in a variety of department functions including purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Communicate with vendors in person, via email, and/or on the telephone Perform a variety of general clerical duties including generating reports, composing correspondence; maintaining files and records and maintaining office supplies Provide consistent in-person attendance Provide operational support as needed Perform related duties as assigned To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of:
Modern office practices, procedures, methods, and computer equipment Record keeping methods and procedures Basic mathematics and established accounting practices Ability to: Operate computer, calculator, and other office equipment Maintain a variety of records and files Perform procedures in an organized and accurate manner Accurately count, record, and balance assigned transactions Understand and carry out oral and written instructions Interact productively with customers in person and on the telephone Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Arrive for work on time Follow directions from a supervisor Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures Accept constructive criticism Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Required Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or
GED Experience:
One year of general or accounting clerical experience that includes statistical or financial record keeping

Completion of related college-level courses

Microsoft 365 and QuickBooks This position is a non-union, non-classified position, and there are no fringe benefits associated with this position due to the part-time status. The finance assistant reports to the director of business services. The wage is $20-$25 per hour based on experience, and the finance assistant is required to work 19 hours per week. The job will remain posted until a candidate is hired.
