Job Description

Bookkeeper - Plastic Surgery & Medical Aesthetics Practice We are a growing plastic surgery and medical aesthetics practice seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day accounting and support accurate, timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently, and understands accrual-basis accounting. This role requires someone who takes ownership of the books, pays close attention to detail, and is proactive about identifying discrepancies or items that require follow-up.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate books using accrual-basis accounting Manage accounts payable, including vendor bills, payment tracking, and proper expense coding Record and reconcile accounts receivable and other outstanding balances Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly Reconcile revenue and deposits from practice management, merchant processing, and other systems to the general ledger Record payroll entries and reconcile payroll-related accounts Maintain prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, fixed assets, loans, and other balance sheet accounts Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries Review transactions for proper account and class/location coding Assist with inventory and cost-of-goods-related accounting as needed Maintain vendor records and assist with year-end 1099 preparation Complete month-end bookkeeping and ensure accounts are reconciled and ready for financial reporting Maintain organized supporting documentation for transactions and reconciliations Assist with requests from the practice's CPA, tax advisors, and financial team Identify unusual transactions, discrepancies, duplicate charges, missing documentation, or other issues and proactively communicate them to management Support additional accounting and administrative projects as needed
Qualifications:
Prior professional bookkeeping or accounting experience required Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and month-end close Advanced attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage recurring deadlines and follow through on outstanding items Comfortable researching discrepancies and asking questions when something does not look right Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information professionally Strong Excel skills preferred
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with a medical practice, plastic surgery practice, medspa, healthcare organization, or other multi-revenue-stream business is strongly preferred. Familiarity with patient deposits, packages, memberships, gift cards, merchant processing, inventory, and provider-related expenses is a plus.
