Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support small business clients in Charleston, South Carolina, within the tax consulting industry for roughly 10-20 hours per week. This part-time, remote, contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who combines strong bookkeeping expertise with a detail-oriented, client-ready presence. In this role, you will manage day-to-day financial records, maintain accurate account balances, and deliver clear financial reporting to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of small business clients, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.
- Review, classify, and record financial transactions in the appropriate accounts using established bookkeeping practices.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card activity regularly to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare financial statements and present key reporting details to clients in a clear and detail-oriented manner.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including tracking payments and maintaining complete records.
- Assist with month-end close tasks by organizing account data and verifying that all entries are properly recorded.
- Process payroll information as needed while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Communicate directly with clients to answer questions, gather financial documentation, and provide dependable bookkeeping support. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, preferably supporting multiple small business clients.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliation, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close activities.
- High level of accuracy in data entry and financial record maintenance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently in client-facing situations.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing deadlines and priorities effectively.
