Job Description

Qualifications:
1. Accounting degree (or student close to graduation) or 1 year experience as full charge bookkeeper, accounts receivable, accounts payable and computer literacy. 2. Experience in 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and Federal Grants is a plus.
Responsibilities:
1. Serves as general ledger bookkeeper for all departments and programs, recording revenue, expenses, accruals, and encumbrances, and the distribution of the same. 2. Responsible for the complete processing of Accounts Payable. This includes coding, recording and posting all invoices. Maintains Accounts Payable files timely and accurately with minimal errors. 3. Reconciles A/P to general ledger. 4. Prepares general ledger account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. 5. Process payroll timely and accurately with minimal errors. 6. Maintains strict confidentiality of all payroll records to ensure all payroll information is kept confidential and secure. 7. Assists with the month-end closing function, including journal entry checklist. 8. Assists with preparation and analysis of financial accounts and statements prior to final reports being published, including those to funders and external auditors. 9. Assists Finance Director on the Maintenance Committee. Regularly inspects maintenance and repair requirements, assists in vendor selection, and satisfies other required duties as needed. 10. Handles all training and supervision of staff on In-Kind donation procedures to ensure procedures are adhered to. 11. Maintains level of technical training and expertise necessary to produce quality output/work as required by generally accepted accounting principles. 12. Follows all financial and accounting regulations, policies, controls, and procedures for the agency and for all grant and contract funding sources. 13. Participates in the quality improvement process of the agency. 14. Works on special projects as needed to assist management. 15. Maintains record retention files for the Department and assists with keeping files organized and accessible. 16. Keeps an organized and efficient work area and assists the department with this effort. 17. Assist in other areas of the finance department when needed.
