full-time Accounting & Tax Specialist We are seeking an Accounting & Tax Specialist to join our accounting and tax practice. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in bookkeeping and accounting who is ready to expand their knowledge and gain additional experience in tax, payroll, and client accounting. The ideal candidate will have prior hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience, be comfortable working in both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, and have a strong desire to learn and grow within an accounting and tax firm. Qualifications 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred Hands-on experience with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is required Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and basic financial statements Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations Basic understanding of debits, credits, and journal entries Experience with payroll is preferred but not required Previous tax preparation experience is a plus but not required Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines Professional written and verbal communication skills Willingness to learn new accounting, payroll, and tax procedures Ability to research discrepancies and ask questions when something does not appear correct Key Responsibilities Perform bookkeeping for multiple business clients Categorize transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Assist with preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements Identify discrepancies and assist with accounting cleanup Prepare basic journal entries with guidance as needed Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting Assist with sales tax preparation and filing Assist with preparation of Forms 1099 and W-2 Assist with fixed asset and depreciation schedules Prepare and organize year-end accounting workpapers Assist senior staff with individual and business tax return preparation Review client QuickBooks files for completeness and accuracy Communicate with clients to request documentation and resolve routine bookkeeping questions Learn and take on additional accounting and tax responsibilities as experience grows What We're Looking For This position is well suited for someone who has some real-world bookkeeping or accounting experience and is ready for the next step in their career. We do not expect the successful candidate to know everything on day one. We do expect them to understand basic accounting concepts, have practical QuickBooks experience, pay close attention to detail, and be willing to learn. The right person will be dependable, organized, comfortable asking questions, and interested in developing broader skills in accounting, payroll, tax, and client service. There is significant opportunity to grow into greater responsibility and more advanced accounting and tax work as knowledge and experience develop.
