Main responsibilities:
Position Summary The Grocery Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Grocery Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational excellence, inventory management, sales growth, and profitability. This role oversees department associates, manages inventory and merchandising programs, ensures compliance with company policies and food safety standards, and drives a customer-focused culture. The Grocery Manager is accountable for achieving financial goals while maintaining high standards of execution, productivity, and associate engagement. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership & Operations Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Grocery Department. Ensure shelves, displays, and promotional areas are fully stocked, organized, and merchandised according to company standards. Maintain department readiness, cleanliness, and operational excellence. Develop and implement action plans to improve department performance. Coordinate activities with other store departments to ensure operational efficiency. Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop grocery associates and department leaders. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities. Create and maintain schedules that support customer demand and labor goals. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and customer service excellence. Build succession plans and develop future department leaders. Customer Service Foster a customer-first culture throughout the department. Ensure associates provide prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Resolve customer concerns and implement effective solutions. Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain department conditions that enhance the shopping experience. Inventory Management & Merchandising Oversee ordering, receiving, inventory control, and replenishment activities. Monitor inventory levels to maximize in-stock conditions and sales opportunities. Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution. Manage product rotation and freshness standards. Implement merchandising strategies that drive sales and customer engagement. Financial Performance Achieve department sales, profit, labor, and shrink targets. Analyze department performance using sales reports and operational metrics. Control expenses through effective labor management and inventory practices. Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Support company initiatives designed to increase sales and productivity. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operating procedures. Promote workplace safety and maintain a safe environment for associates and customers. Support loss prevention initiatives and shrink reduction programs. Ensure timely completion of required audits, inspections, and documentation. Maintain compliance with inventory control and receiving procedures.
