Job Description

Description Our client in the energy industry is seeking a detail-oriented contract to hire Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced organization while supporting critical accounts payable functions. The successful candidate will be more than an invoice processor. They will be responsible for researching discrepancies, resolving issues, reconciling vendor accounts, and driving outstanding items through resolution. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys problem-solving, working cross-functionally with operations and procurement teams, and ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments. Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities

+ Accurately process and record vendor invoices in NetSuite, ensuring proper coding and supporting documentation.

+ Match invoices to purchase orders, receipts, and contracts.

+ Apply a working knowledge of the purchase order process and its impact on invoicing, procurement, and payment activities.

+ Investigate invoice discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.

+ Maintain strong vendor relationships by responding to inquiries and ensuring accurate payment records.

+ Reconcile vendor statements and accounts, researching and resolving outstanding balances.

+ Process vendor payments, including checks, ACH, and other approved payment methods.

+ Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

+ Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and reporting support.

+ Partner with procurement, project management, and operations teams to ensure invoice accuracy and policy compliance.

+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within the accounts payable function. Requirements Qualifications

+ Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

+ Minimum of 2-3 years of accounts payable experience.

+ Experience working in a high-volume invoice processing environment.

+ Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred.

+ Prior experience within energy, industrial, manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, or other resource-based industries is highly preferred.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proven ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.

+ Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and follow-through.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
