Job Description

Cooke County is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Assistant Auditor to join the County Auditor's Office. This position is responsible for performing the County's accounts payable functions and ensuring expenditures are properly documented, coded, and processed in accordance with County procedures. Key Responsibilities Audit requests for payment, purchase invoices, and blanket purchase order payments. Review disbursement account coding to ensure expenditures are accurately classified and distributed. Verify invoice calculations, supporting documentation, and affidavits for accuracy. Prepare accounts payable reports and disbursement listings for presentation to Commissioners Court. Work with vendors to answer billing questions and resolve discrepancies. Maintain, scan, and file accounts payable records and documentation. Perform other duties as assigned by the County Auditor. Qualifications High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Two to three years of accounts payable or related accounting experience preferred. Governmental accounting or accounts payable experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial information responsibly. Cooke County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
