Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and data entry skills, with a focus on maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely processing of vendor payments. Duties Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders using various financial software systems such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, or Sage. Reconcile accounts payable transactions with the general ledger and ensure accuracy in account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation. Maintain organized records of all financial transactions while handling confidential information with discretion. Assist in month-end closing activities, including journal entries related to accounts payable and accruals. Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and respond promptly to inquiries. Support compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls. Utilize spreadsheets and advanced Excel data analysis techniques for reporting and audit purposes. Qualifications Proven experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related accounting roles within a corporate or governmental setting. Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping. Familiarity with financial software such as ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar systems is highly desirable. Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account reconciliation. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while demonstrating professionalism in customer service interactions. Knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP and experience with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheets management.
