Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions, ensure accurate payroll processing, and maintain meticulous financial records. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health, compliance with accounting standards, and smooth operational workflows. Duties Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems. Process payroll efficiently, ensuring timely payments while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations. Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets regularly to ensure data integrity. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice entry, payment processing, and account analysis. Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and perform double-entry bookkeeping in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Generate detailed financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets, to support management decision-making. Assist with budgeting activities and provide insights into financial concepts relevant to nonprofit or corporate accounting environments. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain thorough documentation of all financial transactions for audit readiness. Support month-end closing procedures by performing account analysis and ledger reconciliation tasks efficiently. Utilize spreadsheets for data analysis, report writing, and maintaining organized financial records. Qualifications Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, and general ledger accounting within a corporate or nonprofit setting. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, and other financial management tools. Strong understanding of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and account analysis. Demonstrated ability to handle accounts payable/receivable processes accurately and efficiently. Experience with payroll systems and processing payroll using industry-standard software. Excellent skills in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), including formulas for data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of financial concepts related to budgeting, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and general ledger reconciliation. Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in all aspects of bookkeeping and financial reporting. Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
