Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the accounting department by performing essential bookkeeping and data entry tasks, assisting with financial recordkeeping, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, highly organized, and possesses a strong foundation in accounting principles and software systems. Duties Enter and maintain accurate financial data using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation. Support general ledger activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis. Help prepare financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Handle confidential information with integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations. Conduct data entry tasks with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and spreadsheet management tools like Microsoft Excel for data analysis. Support internal audits by providing relevant documentation and assisting with audit preparations related to governmental or non-profit accounting. Experience Prior experience in accounting or finance roles, including bookkeeping or data entry positions. Familiarity with popular financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, UltiPro, ADP, Kronos, Paychex or similar systems. Knowledge of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management. Understanding of financial reporting standards such as GAAP and experience working within governmental or non-profit accounting environments is a plus. Strong numeracy skills complemented by proficiency in Excel data analysis and spreadsheet functions. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy. Pay:
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 42.0 per week
