Accounting Specialist - Construction Accounting We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our construction accounting team. The ideal candidate is someone who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism. A strong sense of humor and excellent time-management skills are a must. The successful candidate will have at least 4-5 years of recent experience in the construction accounting industry and a solid understanding of both day-to-day accounting operations and year-end financial processes, including company tax filings. Key Responsibilities Manage Accounts Receivable processes, including our AIA/HUD Billings, with cross-training into Accounts Payable responsibilities. Perform high-volume, accurate data entry across multiple software platforms. Resolve discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders. Maintain organized and accurate records for invoices, payments, and related documentation. Process daily bank deposits and complete bank reconciliations. Set up new jobs and project budgets within accounting systems. Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate payment processing. Prepare and process lien releases and verify compliance documentation as required. Manage subcontractor/vendor onboarding packages, insurance certificates, and compliance tracking. Complete Certified Payroll Reports as needed. Review and correct subcontractor AIA and HUD billings when necessary. Assist with streamlining and improving the Accounts Payable process. Handle collections, journal entries, lien notices, and additional accounting duties as assigned. Software Experience Experience with the following platforms is preferred: QuickBooks Online Bill.com Buildertrend Microsoft Excel Qualifications 2+ years of Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience within the construction industry. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Preferred (Experience can replace degree qualifications) Strong understanding of construction accounting processes and job cost accounting. Experience with company tax filings and year-end financial reconciliations. Proven ability to manage heavy data entry and high transaction volume with exceptional accuracy. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, with the ability to quickly learn new systems. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams.
