About the role: NOLA Build & Design, a growing design-build firm in Charlottesville, is hiring a Bookkeeper to own our day-to-day transactional accounting. You'll handle recurring billing, account reconciliations, payroll support, tax filing support, and business license tracking — keeping our books accurate, well-documented, and audit-ready. You'll report directly to our Director of Finance & Administration. This is a great fit for someone who takes pride in clean books, tight reconciliations, and doesn't let a discrepancy go unexplained.

Responsibilities:

Process recurring bills, vendor invoices, and subcontractor payments; code AP/AR in QuickBooks Online and BuilderTrend Support AIA billing and progress payment entry Perform monthly bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations Process payroll submissions, validate timecards, and track PTO Prepare and file routine tax filings (sales/use tax, business tangible personal property tax) and support 1099 issuance Track renewal deadlines for business and contractor licenses and permits Submit completed work for review and collaborate with the team on consistent job costing

Qualifications:

3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction, design-build, or project-based environments Proficiency with QuickBooks Online Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations) Solid understanding of GAAP, job costing, and standard reconciliation practices Sharp attention to detail, strong organization, and the discretion to handle sensitive financial information Preferred (not required): Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Familiarity with BuilderTrend or license/regulatory filing tracking NOLA Build & Design is a design-build firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia, focused on designing, building, and serving with integrity.
