Accounting Clerk Advanced Business Systems - 3.5 Chesapeake, VA Job Details Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Filing Attention to detail QuickBooks Associate's degree Time management Full Job Description We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented clerk to support the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations of our clients. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit environment and is comfortable handling a variety of accounting responsibilities with accuracy and confidentiality. The Staff Accountant will assist with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, financial reporting, payroll support, business and personal tax returns and other accounting and office-related tasks as needed. Key Responsibilities Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system Process accounts payable, including reviewing invoices, obtaining approvals, and preparing payments Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, posting payments, and following up on outstanding balances Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures Maintain the general ledger and supporting documentation Prepare routine financial reports and accounting schedules Assist with payroll processing and related filings Monitor expenses and help maintain accurate financial records Reconcile vendor and customer accounts Assist with budgeting, reporting, and other financial analysis as needed Maintain organized electronic and paper accounting files Communicate with vendors, customers, banks, and other outside parties as necessary Provide general administrative support in a small-office environment Perform other accounting and office duties as assigned Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 1 - 2+ years of accounting experience Strong understanding of basic accounting principles Experience with bookkeeping and general ledger functions Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally Preferred Skills Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software Experience with payroll processing Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable Familiarity with month-end closing procedures Ability to identify and resolve account discrepancies Work Environment This is a small-office position where employees work closely together and may be asked to assist with responsibilities outside their primary accounting duties. The successful candidate should be flexible, professional, dependable, and willing to take initiative
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 14.0 - 28.0 per week
