Accounting Specialist
  • Chesapeake LS GreenLink is building a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to produce high-voltage submarine power cables in Chesapeake, VA.
These cables are integral to the global supply chain for offshore wind farms and designed to optimize bulk clean-power transmission. This operation will generate a variety of professional and production positions and help bring advanced manufacturing capabilities to support the clean technology industry in Virginia... and you can be a part of it! We are currently seeking an Accounting Specialst who will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role will also support financial planning, ERP implementation, insurance administration, and operational accounting functions for our growing organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable activities. Prepare accounting records and financial reports with accuracy, completeness, and conformity to accounting standards. Support the implementation and setup of ERP systems for a newly established company. Assist with strategic planning, budget preparation, and financial consolidation activities with headquarters in Korea. Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain proper recording of control accounts. Manage daily banking transactions and requirements. Respond to inquiries from management regarding financial results and special reporting requests. Administer Builder's Risk and OCIP (WC/EL/CGL/Umbrella) insurance policies, including enrollments, modifications, and cancellations. Ensure insurance documentation is accurate and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and follow up on insurance claims with adjusters, brokers, and other stakeholders. Work with brokers and business teams to manage insurance obligations and claims processes. During factory construction, support insurance-related activities associated with construction projects as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience. Manufacturing experience in a global environment preferred. SAP experience (FI and CO modules) preferred. Bilingual Korean/English preferred. Strong analytical, strategic, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Authorization to work in the United States.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge. Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software. Ability to work effectively across departments, regions, and business units. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing. Ability to occasionally travel domestically, up to 20% as business needs require. Ability to work in both office and construction/manufacturing environments as needed during facility startup activities.
Salary:
$75,000-95,000/year
