How you'll make an impact The Accounting Specialist is an entry level position that supports financial planning, analysis activities by preparing client invoices, vouchers, retirement funding reports, and other client-related reports. Will gain exposure to different aspects of finance and develop analytical skills to support business decision-making.
The Day-to-Day:
(Essential duties of the position) Prepare client health and welfare funding invoices and verification schedules for GSA National management review. Reconcile client source data to final hours, contributions, and fringe benefit credits invoiced to the client. Use critical thinking skills to apply fringe benefit reporting requirements under Service Contract Act, Davis Bacon Act, and collective bargaining agreements. Review variance analytics to identify and explain changes between accounting periods for management review. Prepare client reporting deliverables including retirement funding reports. Prepare invoices and credit memos for client in QuickBooks Desktop. Prepare and maintain various reports for client. Handle client inquiries with the highest degree of responsiveness and professionalism.
About You Required:
High School diploma. Introductory Bookkeeping experience/exposure required. Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 2+ years of work experience in corporate accounting, audit and/or financial analytics. Employee benefit plan audit experience is a plus. Government contracting industry experience is a plus. QuickBooks (desktop and on-line) experience is a plus Excellent analytical skills, ability to capture, review and analyze data. Ability to be detail-oriented and to meet constant deadlines. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well under pressure as part of a fast-paced team, with demonstrated ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize consistently and appropriately. Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present complex issues/data with a high level of clarity, and impact. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills; proven ability to research, follow up, and resolve complex issues or problems. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential compensation and financial information by GSA policies.
