Position:
Effectively and efficiently process customer deductions, support the Sales Accounting team.
Job Summary:
The Deductions Specialist role ensures the timely and accurate processing of deductions, working with the Sales Accounting team, approve and enter deductions for clearing. The successful candidate will have the ability to minimize the amount of time customer deductions remain open by quickly and thoroughly validating deduction claims, approving or rejecting based on research, and taking the necessary steps to submit to the Credit team for processing or customer repayment. This position will report to the AR/Credit Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and process deductions within a specified timeframe and analyze data to help reduce future occurrences by working with customers and internal business partners. Gather backup necessary to validate customer deductions by working with the sales team and customers and help to clear customer deductions via email, phone, customer portals, etc. Use critical thinking skills to analyze research results to determine validity of deduction. Clear deductions with vouchers or applying credit memos to the original deduction. Analyze customer trends and root causes of deductions to assist with actionable improvements in process. Research transactions and trends using computer skills in both web-enabled and desktop applications. Reconciliation of general ledger accounts Work on special projects as needed. Performance Standards (the criteria that will be used to evaluate performance): Clearing customer deductions quickly, efficiently, and accurately. Personal effectiveness-meeting timelines and productivity requirements (quantity and quality of work) Personal interaction, communication, and teamwork with internal and external parties.

Highly organized Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible Must be able to support accounting team with ad hoc projects as needed Must possess strong mathematical and analytical skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently to meet required deadlines Must be able to work independently and perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction Eye for detail and accuracy is imperative Excellent organizational and analytical skills Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, college level accounting classes or Accounting Degree preferred.
