Job Description
Description We are looking for an AP/Payroll Specialist to support core accounting operations in Redmond, Washington. This role combines accounts payable, union payroll, and construction-related financial administration in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while partnering closely with the broader accounting team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end accounts payable activities, including weekly payment processing and timely disbursements to subcontractors.
- Administer weekly payroll for employees represented by the Carpenters Union, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable rules.
- Verify invoices, account coding, and backup documentation before releasing payments.
- Maintain complete and accurate payroll and accounting records within Foundation software and related systems.
- Support billing and accounts receivable tasks, including coordination across roughly 5 to 10 active contracts at any given time.
- Contribute to job costing, project accounting, and the review of schedule-driven financial information tied to construction work.
- Investigate payroll, payables, and accounting discrepancies, then take initiative to resolve issues efficiently.
- Prepare Excel-based reports, reconciliations, and data reviews to support ongoing financial tracking and analysis.
- Assist with quarterly tax-related activities based on experience and business needs.
- Collaborate with the Controller, Assistant Controller, and administrative staff to improve workflows and take on expanded ownership as processes develop.

52 hours annually Requirements- Experience handling full-cycle payroll and accounts payable responsibilities in a detail-focused accounting environment.
- Background processing union payroll, preferably for employees covered under carpenter or similar trade agreements.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll practices and payroll volumes ranging from approximately 100 to 500 employees.
- Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and Foundation accounting software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Experience in the construction industry with exposure to job costing and contract-related accounting activities.
- Ability to review financial documentation carefully, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
