This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing accounts payable, apportionment billing and payments, property and liability insurance billing and payments, credit card activity, and deposits. The Accounts Payable Specialist will also serve as an important point of contact for local church treasurers, finance chairs, church office administrators, and vendors, providing timely and responsive financial support. Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable transactions by accurately entering vouchers, preparing and issuing checks and electronic fund transfer (EFT) payments, and ensuring timely and accurate payment processing. Manage apportionment (church giving) accounting activities, including preparing and distributing monthly billing and payment reports, posting payments, processing and recording donations received, and submitting related vouchers for payment and reconciliation. Process property and liability insurance billing and payments for churches, including ensuring appropriate endorsement changes are accurately recorded in the applicable software. Serve as a primary point of contact for church treasurers, finance chairs, church office administrators, and vendors, providing responsive and professional support by phone and email. Process and reconcile credit card statements, including reviewing monthly billing, analyzing card activity, and ensuring required documentation is received and accurate. Prepare and post monthly journal entries to record credit card transactions. Process all deposits and accurately record cash, check, and ACH deposits in the accounting software. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation while protecting confidential financial information. Assist with other financial and administrative duties as assigned. Core Competencies & Qualifications Associate's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of relevant accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or administrative experience required. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to responsive customer service. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Conference staff and local church leaders. Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism. Working knowledge of Paychex, Blackbaud, and Mission Connect preferred, with the ability and willingness to learn new software systems.
