EDJOIN DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, the Budget Technician supports the District's budget and financial operations. This position helps prepare and monitor the budget, track spending, review financial information for accuracy, and support reporting requirements. The goal of this role is to help ensure that funds are used properly and that financial information is clear, accurate, and up to date.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(May include but is not limited to): 1. Assist with preparing and updating the District's budget throughout the year. 2. Monitor department budgets and track spending to ensure expenses stay within approved limits. 3. Review budget activity and compare planned spending to actual spending; identify and explain differences. 4. Process budget changes, transfers, and adjustments; make sure all entries are accurate and properly documented. 5. Enter financial data such as journal entries and budget updates into the financial system. 6. Review purchase requests, travel expenses, and other spending to confirm funds are available and coded correctly. 7. Help estimate future revenues and expenses using current data, past trends, and available information. 8. Reconcile budget reports with financial records to make sure both sets of numbers match and are accurate. 9. Balances accounts, including bank statements, visa card, and cash receipts, to ensure accuracy and compliance. 10. Review account balances and assist in identifying and correcting any errors or differences. 11. Prepare regular budget and financial reports for staff and leadership to support decision-making. 12. Assist with required reports for state, federal, and local programs by gathering and organizing financial data. 13. Monitor restricted or program funds to ensure spending follows funding rules and guidelines. 14. Maintain organized files and records to support audits and ensure proper documentation is available. 15. Work with accounting, payroll, and other departments to confirm financial information is complete and accurate. 16. Assist with year-end closing activities, including reviewing balances and helping prepare necessary adjustments. 17. Maintain spreadsheets and tracking tools to monitor budget activity, balances, and spending trends. 18. Respond to questions from staff about budget balances, available funds, and financial procedures. 19. Compile historical financial data and supporting information for reports, audits, and budget review. 20. Follow established procedures and help identify any issues or inconsistencies in financial data. 21. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Pay:
$34.57 - $41.48 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
