Job Description

Assists with various financial processes, projects, and other operational needs of the department.1. Performs a variety of delegated research tasks and projects; documents findings; prepares reports, graphs, charts, and other documents as needed; presents results upon completion. 2. Supports the development of the city's operating budget. 3. Works on budget to actual and other ad hoc analytical reports. 4. Gains exposure to municipal finance operations. 5. Conducts analysis and provides recommendations for process improvement and helps develop standard operating procedures where applicable. 6. Assists with administration and maintenance of Laserfiche and IDEA software. 7. Uses technology to continuously improve processes and procedures. 8. Responds to telephone inquiries on payments, reconciles vendor statements, researches and corrects discrepancies. 9. Assists in researching and gathering of economic, financial, demographic, and statistical information. 10. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. 11. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work. 12. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have knowledge of financial modeling.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to provide actionable recommendations.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative-working relationships with employees and those contacted in the course of work.
  • Must be able to work with a team.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, or a related field. Current transcripts are required with application. Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
